We continued on our walk down Hollywood for the second time. As we crossed 20th Street, we came across something else rather amazing.
2012 Shelby Daytona Cobra (CSX 9120). There were only around six of these made from 1964 to 1965, all with chassis numbers in the CSX 2XXX range. This car has a higher range than the 64 era CSX 9120. I was rather baffled by the gap in the chassis sequence, so I took to the internets to find some answers.
Luckily, the placard on the dash “Built & Raced by JW Smith 2012 Shelby Daytona Cobra” gave me something to go on. Not much turned up there. There is also another placard with Carroll Shelby’s stamp of approval along with his signature and several others adorning various surfaces on the vehicle. That’s where I found the 9120 code.
After a little googling, I found that the CSX9000 sequence is the latest build of the Coupe directly from Shelby American Inc. Yes, this car was hand made by Shelby and his crew in 2012 before his passing. Wow.
